What is Physiotherapy

Physiotherapy helps people affected by injury, illness or disability through movement and exercise, manual therapy, education and advice. Physiotherapists are nationally accredited allied health professionals who are involved in the assessment, diagnosis, planning and management of patient care.

How is Rise Physio different?

Rise Physio is the passion project of Physiotherapist Adelle Sherwood, who believes in providing individualised, evidence based services that help you to achieve your physical health and wellness goals. We are a clinician run facility offering female physiotherapy services.

Do I need a Doctor's referral?

No. You do not need a doctor’s referral to access our physiotherapy or clinical Pilates services.

However if you are eligible to be treated via the Medicare EPC program, the you will be required to bring your doctor’s referral and Medicare care plan with you to your first appointment.

Can I use my Private Health Insurance?

Yes. We are able to process your private health insurance on the spot as long as your card is present at the time of your appointment.

Do you accept NDIS clients?

Yes. We are able to accept all funding types for NDIS clients. Please contact us on (02) 8280 9723 for more details.

Do you accept work cover patients?

Yes. We are registered with SIRA to treat both work cover and CTP patients with referrals from a primary practitioner.

What is Clinical Pilates?

Clinical Pilates combines the equipment and exercises of the Pilates method with the clinical knowledge of a physiotherapist to tailor exercises to a client’s specific injuries, needs and goals. It is a private, one-on-one and individualised approach to exercise.

Clinical Pilates is especially useful for:

  • pre and post-partum phases of life
  • neck and back pain
  • injury rehabilitation
  • arthritis
  • hypermobility
  • diastasis recti
  • lumbo-pelvic hip pain and some co-ordination disorders

What should I wear for my first session?

The clinician will ideally need to have visual and physical access to the part of your body requiring assessment or treatment. Loose, comfortable clothing is preferable (i.e. shorts, singlet top, etc… ) however ultimately, your comfort is important to us and we respect any personal requirements regarding clothing. Our clinical space is heated and private with amenities for you to get changed if required.

Where are you located?

We are located at 74-76 Bradley Street, Glenmore Park 2745. Our clinic is inside the Mindflare building where we share a reception.

Is your clinic accessable?

Yes. We have wheelchair access available from our carpark and we have a wheelchair accessible bathroom.

What formal Paediatric assessments do you offer?

The MABC_2
The Movement ABC-2 is one of the most frequently used tests of motor impairment in the world. It identifies, describes, and guides treatment of motor impairment for ages 3 to 16 years, 11 months.

We use the Movement ABC-2 to:

  • Identify children who are significantly behind their peers in motor development
  • Assist in planning an intervention program in either a school or clinical setting
  • Measure change as a result of intervention
  • Serve as a measurement instrument in research involving motor development

The Movement ABC-2 features in over 500 research studies internationally and has been translated and standardised in several countries.

The HINE
(Hammersmith Infant Neurological Examination) It is a clinical neurological examination that can be used to assess infants from 2-24 months of age.

The MACS
(Manual Ability Classification System) For Cerebral Palsy upper limb manual functionality grading.

The TIMP
(Test for Infant Motor Performance) The TIMP can be used to assess infants between the ages of 34 weeks postconceptional age and 4 months post-term.

The HINT
(Harris Infant Neuromotor Test) The HINT is a neuromotor screening test that can be used with low-risk (typically developing) or high-risk infants ranging in age from 2.5 to 12.5 months.
